As part of the Kent and Medway ICB CVD prevention improvement programme, we are pleased to announce the first part of a new training package aimed at supporting and developing our primary care workforce.
We are starting with two clinical webinars designed to strengthen knowledge and confidence in the management of hypertension and lipids.
We would encourage everyone involved in the management of hypertension and lipid disorders to attend. We would also encourage practices to extend the invitation to colleagues who may take on or further develop this role in the future. This may include: GPs, Pharmacists, Nurses, Pharmacy technicians, HCAs and Other colleagues who can support their practice with hypertension and lipid management.
This initiative is aimed at building sustainability across primary care and community pharmacy. Local Primary Care teams will be supported via PCN-based training, standardised protocols, explicit role descriptors and peer support, so that clinical pharmacists, as well as the multiprofessional workforce in Primary Care can make every contact count within this model. The programme enhances local skills and confidence in risk stratification, medicines optimisation, titration, coding, recall management and handover, and establishes a repeatable model that can be sustained beyond the initial programme and replicated in other pathways
We believe that investing in our workforce is a cornerstone of achieving sustainable improvement in cardiovascular prevention across Kent and Medway.
