We are pleased to offer an exciting internal secondment opportunity for the role Named General Practitioner for Safeguarding. This position is available until 31 March 2026 and offers4 PAs per week (16 hours). Skills needed
Through regular engagement, training, and case-based discussions, the Named GP will promote best practice, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and facilitate early intervention for at-risk individuals. The post holder provides leadership, expert advice, and representation at safeguarding boards, supports multi-agency enquiries, and ensures that safeguarding is embedded throughout all ICB activities.
- Leadership and competency skills in safeguarding children, young people, and adults at risk
- Ability to support and advise on all forms of harm and abuse, including neglect, emotional and physical abuse, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, and modern slavery
- Excellent communication, analytical, report writing, and presentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across agencies and disciplines
- Competency in using Microsoft Office packages
- Current GMC registration and experience as a GP.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, guidance, and best practice.
Experience needed
- Experienced GP with extended knowledge and skills in the care of adults, children, and young people
- Member of the RCGP
- Experience in safeguarding, including multi-agency working and supporting serious case reviews
- Experience in developing and delivering training
- Experience in working with vulnerable groups (e.g., children subject to protection plans, domestic abuse cases)
- Experience in service development and strategic planning
