Course aims:
The webinar’s aim is to raise awareness of pump therapy with non-diabetes specialist healthcare professionals. This course will cover the basics of what is insulin pump therapy, the course is aimed at healthcare professionals from primary, secondary and community care including practice nurses, pharmacists, ward-based staff, community staff and doctors who do not specialise in diabetes.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand basic pathophysiology of Type 1 diabetes
- Understand the role of insulin
- Have an awareness of carbohydrate counting in relation to basal bolus insulin regime
- Have an awareness of continuous glucose monitoring
- Have an awareness of standalone pump therapy
- Have an awareness of hybrid closed loop therapy
- Understand the requirements of healthcare professionals managing people on insulin pumps in primary and
secondary care. - Understand the importance of ketone monitoring
Criteria to apply - This course is open to all healthcare professionals in Kent and Medway
