Philip Kennedy is the Male Outreach Worker at Beech House SARC / MSAS, covering Kent and Medway. His aim is to help raise awareness among GP practices, healthcare professionals, and surgery staff about the confidential healthcare and compassionate support available to individuals of all ages and genders following sexual assault or rape.
His role focuses on outreach and increasing awareness of the services to ensure that all victims – regardless of age or gender – know that specialist, confidential support is available to them. This includes delivering awareness presentations, networking with healthcare professionals and GPs, attending community events, and providing sessions within colleges, universities, and other community settings.
Beech House SARC (Sexual Assault Referral Centre) and MSAS (Male Sexual Assault Support) provide completely free services to individuals across Kent and Medway. Victims can access confidential forensic healthcare either through self-referral or with police involvement. Importantly, police involvement is not required to access support, forensic examinations, healthcare, or referrals for ongoing aftercare.
The Kent Sexual Assault Referral Centre is based in Maidstone. Beech House operates as an acute forensic service, conducting forensic sampling to support police investigations where appropriate, while also addressing immediate healthcare needs such as emergency contraception. Access to forensic examinations depends on the individual being within the relevant forensic timeframe. If a patient is outside this timeframe, we may not be able to offer face-to-face forensic sampling; however, we will always provide guidance, signposting, and support to ensure appropriate follow-up care.
Services are commissioned by the NHS and the police, and all support offered—including awareness presentations, drop-in sessions, events, and open mornings—is completely free of charge.
Free staff awareness sessions are available at practices, either in person or via Microsoft Teams.
