As many of you will be aware, the Kent and Medway Training Hub have been part of the recent NHS Kent and Medway ICB organisational restructure, which has seen a reduction in the number of colleagues and a transition towards a more strategic commissioning function.

As a hosted organisation within the ICB, funded by NHS England Workforce, Training and Education (WT&E), the Training Hub now has a smaller infrastructure within the ICB. During this transition, many of our colleagues have moved into other ICB teams or taken up new roles outside the organisation.

With the new ICB structure, the Training Hub is now part of the Primary, Community and Neighbourhood Care MDT. This alignment provides an excellent opportunity to work even more closely with system partners, ensuring our priorities are aligned to support the delivery of integrated, neighbourhood-based care. We look forward to continuing to work alongside our Kent and Medway general practices, Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and neighbourhood teams to support, develop and strengthen the workforce across our system.

We wanted to update you on these changes and, most importantly, reassure you that the Kent and Medway Training Hub remains committed to supporting the primary care workforce. Our focus and priorities remain unchanged, and we will continue to work with you to meet your workforce development needs.

The Training Hub continues to deliver:

  • Workforce growth, retention, education, governance and engagement.
  • Expansion of learning environments and placement capacity.
  • Strengthening of educational infrastructure and leadership.
  • Workforce development through education and training.
  • Support for system workforce priorities across primary care, Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and neighbourhood teams.
