I’m Ruth Germaine, and I am leading a knowledge mobilisation project across Kent and Medway. This work focuses on how we can strengthen workplace‑based learning by co‑creating it with the people who use our services. The aim is for staff learning to be more meaningful, inclusive, and effective in meeting the needs of autistic people and people with learning disabilities in our communities.

As part of this, I am looking for colleagues who:

  • have experience working with people with learning disabilities and/or autistic people,
  • or are autistic or have a learning disability and feel able to support others during the workshops,
  • and would like to volunteer to help support participants and/or facilitate breakout groups (online and face‑to‑face).

Early workshops have shown that learning is most powerful when it is co‑produced, and sometimes delivered, by people with lived experience of learning disabilities and autism. Their insight ensures that what we create together is grounded in what matters most and leads to meaningful, lasting change.

In March, we will be running two further workshops (one online and one face‑to‑face) to explore:

  • why co‑creating workplace‑based learning with people with lived experience is essential,
  • what helps or hinders co‑production in practice,
  • the outcomes we want for both staff and people with lived experience when learning is shaped together.
