At a recent Future Careers event held at Canterbury Christ Church University on Friday 5th December, the Kent and Medway Primary Care Training Hub took part to promote careers in Primary Care to student nurses and other multi-professional roles. Throughout the event, many students shared how much they had enjoyed their placements in Primary Care, describing how welcomed and supported they felt. They told us these positive experiences have made a real difference to their learning journey and have inspired them to consider Primary Care as a future career pathway.

It was wonderful to hear such enthusiastic feedback, which is a true reflection of the outstanding work you do every day, not only in caring for our communities but also in nurturing the next generation of nurses. We wanted to take this opportunity to share this feedback and extend our heartfelt thanks for the encouragement and guidance you offer to students. One of our team members, Rachael Heathfield, also spoke at the event about her career journey; how she joined Primary Care as a newly qualified nurse and has been supported to develop ever since.

Many students were surprised to learn that joining Primary Care directly after qualifying is an option, and we are keen to keep dispelling this myth. Thank you once again for your continued commitment to supporting student nurses on placement. Your kindness, mentorship, and enthusiasm play a vital role in shaping the future of our Primary Care workforce.
