The past year has brought considerable upheaval and uncertainty. Despite the ongoing challenges associated with limited funding, there is much to recognise and celebrate. Key achievements include the renewal of the New to Practice Programme, continued access to Fellowship opportunities, the provision of national Continuing Professional Development (CPD) funding, and an expansion of training placements. Together, these developments highlight the sector’s sustained commitment to supporting professional growth and strengthening workforce resilience.

Looking ahead, the strategic shift toward greater investment in local Neighbourhoods promises to further empower Primary Care. This reallocation of resources is expected to enhance the sector’s capacity to deliver responsive, community-focused care that is aligned with local needs.

The continued move toward more community integration and new collaborative partnerships presents a valuable opportunity to showcase the expertise and versatility of our multi-professional Primary Care workforce. As prevention, early intervention, and holistic patient support become increasingly central to service delivery, the specialist skills of Paramedics, Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and other clinical professionals will be essential. Their contributions will play a vital role in meeting the complex needs of a growing and ageing population while maintaining high standards of care.

Within this evolving context, the Training Hub will remain central to supporting the workforce. Our focus will be on providing a comprehensive, responsive range of training and development opportunities, alongside career-long support and wellbeing resources that equip staff to thrive both personally and professionally.
